10 reasons why Robocon matters the most.

For IITs and NITs, this Robocon fest might be another regular, monotonous, routine event but for many of us here in VIER, Robocon event is like a fest! And naturally so, the question emerges: why does it matter so much? Here is the answer:

1. It is not education, it is edutainment!
Yes!Current education system has left no stone unturned to transform every living being to a "chalta phirta"(mobile) storage device! Numbers matter here, not knowledge. Education here mostly means a degree!! Robocon, however, is fun, because it not only stimulates curiosity in students but also develops innovative skills. For students in VIER, Robocon is Edutainment, not education!

2. It deals with practicals more.
Most of the times, practical sessions are ignored in lieu of completing theory syllabus. This is a serious loss. But Robocon is the platform where science has to be converted to technology. Theory may help, but what matters here is practical implementation.

3. It is an elegant skills manufacturing platform.
Robocon instigates many skills in a student which are essential for overall personal as well as career development. Click here to checkout which skills are developed due to Robocon.

4. It gives direction, aim and purpose.
Let me start with a true incident in VIER itself. There was a student who used to score less in academics;he was unfocused. But when he got chance to showcase his outstanding skills in Robocon, he got a direction. He got an aim. Moreover, the strict rules of VIER to retain a considerable score in academics for confirming participation in Robocon, enforced him to even improve his score in academics, Thus, not only Robocon brings out hidden skills, it gives students the direction, which even the current education system fails to do.

5. It works on merit, not on numbers.
Eligibility and designations in Robocon are decided not on numbers scored in exams, but on dedication and potential;on real merit.

6. It is a platform to prove ourselves.
Yes. the students in IITs and NITs have proven themselves by being successfully admitted in the institution itself. But for students like us, it is this platform to remove the "average" tag stuck on us by education system.

7. It adds adventure to routine and monotonous lives of students.
How thrilling it is to be a part of such game where participating itself means winning! This adventure is not "race" or "competitions" of going ahead from the friends itself, but an inclusive task to learn and let learn.

8. It develops sense of respect for those class of people which are generally taken for granted!
It develops respect for labor, carpenter, peon, assistant, spotter, cleaner, sweeper, craftsman, cook, and many more; which are generally taken for granted.

9. It teaches professionalism, personally.
No thick books of thousand pages can seed the etiquette and behavior of professionalism. But the experience of such a great platform can.

10 It instigates discipline.
All Indians, (except those in Defense), are procrastinates and lazy. They are not so disciplined and workaholic .But this is platform provides the chance to get free from overweight, procrastination and laziness.

Thus, these were the reasons, why in VIER, Robocon matters the most!
