Robocon is a team game. It demands a high level soft skills along with technical skills. In this Robocon journey, a VIER student earns and learns following 14 skills:

The contest demands extensive innovation and therefore, the Robocon team has to be innovative.
10. Communication skills:
It is difficult to go in market and bargain, especially when market situation goes in pit! Here comes the role of communication skills. Moreover, this skill is necessary to convey everything effectively even to college authorities.
11. Programming/Coding skills
Robocon starts with developing programming skills within, for computer and IT students.
12. Circuit designing skills
Robocon starts with developing circuit designing skills within, for EC students.
13. Mechanical Machine handling skills:
Mechanical department involves dealing with sharp tools and so many ‘dangerous’ machines like driller, lathe machine, welding machine, filing machine etc. It requires skills to effectively handle the machines.
14. Market understanding skills:
Robocon teaches the students interestingly the mood of the market. After all, from where the robot part will obtain in cheaper prices but with quality remains a key question in market surveying team. This develops an understanding of market.
Apart from achieving these skills, a Robocon kid get official national level valuable certificate of participation. Moreover they achieve sweet memories, friendship, workaholism and sense of technically innovative indulgence. These skills are key criteria for a company, and so Robocon team trains themselves to be a part of any company indirectly.
Despite being in Robocon team, college authorities are extra careful about each and every team member about their performance in academia. They are strict in terms of tests, examinations and evaluations. This enables a Robocon kid to manage his time between Robocon and academics along with his own personal life. So a Robocon kid has to attend lectures till 3:00, and then indulge in Robocon activities after 3:00.

2. Experience of Hostel Life:
Robocon students stay in college itself for accomplishment of this project. The college authorities are extra careful about Robocon student’s health and hygiene and so, dinner is also provided by college in the college canteen. The time getting lost during travelling in buses reduces and students can focus on the project more. The encouraging faculties also stay in college for help and support. This enables even girls of Robocon team to stay in college.

This journey is based on technical base. Not only does this journey strengthen the basic fundamentals, but also increases the technical knowledge from novice to advanced level.
4. Decision making skills:
Team Robocon has to gain decision making skills from the beginning itself. From the decision of usage of simple nut to complex and difficult decisions, Robocon team has to agreeably decide. This develops quick and impulsive decision making skills.
5. Team work:
The road of Robocon can never be traveled alone. It has to be in united team. Despite of misunderstandings, quarrels and differences of opinions; team Robocon has to stand united till the end. A Robocon student, thus, prerequisitively develops to be a coordinated team member and team contributor.

6. Pressure handling skills:
There is much Pressure of team leaders, team coordinators, academics, tests, exams, faculties….. Robocon is a best way to teach the students the tricks of pressure bearing and effectively handling the same. The pressure on the field in Pune, the last minute amendments on battlefield requires calmness and wittiness.

7. Developing sportsman spirit:
All in all, this is a game. A game which can have at most one champion out of 100 participants; so it is must for Robocon team to develop a sense of bearing defeat and enjoying victory; equally!
8. Management skills:
Team has to be extra careful in managing the funds and resources. Even though college authorities are providing the team, a financial backup; the authorities are very strict on each penny spent. Robocon student has to be much careful in using resources and spending money judiciously. This develops a skill of purchasing "quality" in lesser prices. The team has to submit the bills to account section of college as well as the name and address of merchant. Thus, fund management skills are developed.
9. Innovative skills:
The contest demands extensive innovation and therefore, the Robocon team has to be innovative.
